At the invitation of the Topchubashov Center in Baku, RSC Director Richard Giragosian participated in an online conference on 15 October, entitled “Türkiye in, Russia down, Iran out? Shifting tides in the South Caucasus.”

Joining a small group of three other representatives from Armenian civil society, RSC Director Richard Giragosian met Deren Derya, the Head of Division of the EU External Action Service, responsible for Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia and Moldova, and her team on 13 October, during their visit to Yerevan.

RSC Director Richard Giragosian was invited to the Swedish Embassy in Yerevan on 9 October for an introductory briefing for the recently arrived Swedish Ambassador to Armenia Eva Sundquist and her staff. The meeting was then followed by a meeting with Carl Fredrik Birkoff of the Stockholm-based Folke Bernadotte Academy for a discussion of democracy and governance in Armenia as the country looks forward to a pivotal election next year.

The Regional Studies Center (RSC) convened the latest in the monthly series of analytical briefings on 26 September, focusing on recent developments in Armenia and the wider South Caucasus region.

In an interview on 25 September with Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty’s (RFE/RL) Azerbaijani Service, Radio Azadliq, RSC Research Fellow Emily Babakanian Frazier assessed the prospects for future bilateral trade between Armenia and Azerbaijan. The interview followed recent statements by Armenian parliamentary speaker Alen Simonyan declaring that such trade would soon become inevitable.
