RSC Director Richard Giragosian was invited to the Swedish Embassy in Yerevan on 9 October for an introductory briefing for the recently arrived Swedish Ambassador to Armenia Eva Sundquist and her staff.  The meeting was then followed by a meeting with Carl Fredrik Birkoff of the Stockholm-based Folke Bernadotte Academy for a discussion of democracy and governance in Armenia as the country looks forward to a pivotal election next year.

The Regional Studies Center (RSC) convened the latest in the monthly series of analytical briefings on 26 September, focusing on recent developments in Armenia and the wider South Caucasus region.

In an interview on 25 September with Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty’s (RFE/RL) Azerbaijani Service, Radio Azadliq, RSC Research Fellow Emily Babakanian Frazier assessed the prospects for future bilateral trade between Armenia and Azerbaijan. The interview followed recent statements by Armenian parliamentary speaker Alen Simonyan declaring that such trade would soon become inevitable.

On the sidelines of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly (NATO PA) seminar in Armenia, RSC Director Richard Giragosian was a guest for Poland’s TVP World news on 23 September, in an interview for the TVP “Eastern Express” program, hosted by Diana Skaya and focusing on recent developments in Armenia, including the country’s diplomatic engagement with neighboring Azerbaijan and the state of Armenia-Türkiye “normalization” process.

Armenia hosted the 108th Rose-Roth Seminar of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly (NATO PA) from 22-23 September, in cooperation with the National Assembly of Armenia and formally entitled “Armenia and the South Caucasus in a Shifting World: Strengthening Democracy and Regional Security.
