DW’S “INSIDE EUROPE” LOOKS AT BROADER CONTEXT OF ARMENIA-AZERBAIJAN TALKS

In a report by Dorian Jones on 14 August, the DW “Inside Europe” program assessed the new strategic context of regional geopolitics after the Washington “peace summit” between Armenia and Azerbaijan on 8 August.  The program included comments from RSC Director Richard Giragosian, and also featured Farid Shafiev providing the Azerbaijani perspective and Asli Aydintasbas for the view from Türkiye.  The report begins at 9:35 in the show and runs through the 16:50 mark of the program.  DW “Inside Europe” is a weekly program looking at European current affairs, politics and culture, brought to you by Germany’s international broadcaster, Deutsche Welle (DW).

RSC SPECIAL BRIEFING ON ARMENIAN-AZERBAIJANI WHITE HOUSE “PEACE SUMMIT”

The Regional Studies Center (RSC) held a special analytical briefing on 14 August to assess the Washington trilateral “peace summit” hosted by U.S. President Trump on 8 August, with Armenian Prime Minister Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Aliyev signing a new “Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity” (TRIPP) agreement and the two sides also initialing a post-war bilateral peace treaty.  A separate online session of this special briefing was also held on 15 August, with participants from Ankara, Berlin, Brussels, London, Paris, Tbilisi and Washington.

DW NEWS ON ARMENIA-AZERBAIJAN TALKS

As part of the fairly extensive coverage of the 8 August “Peace Summit” hosted by President Trump at the White House, RSC Director Richard Giragosian was a guest joining Melissa Chan as a guest for an hour-long discussion for the DW News Desk on 13 August.  Entitled, “Does the Azerbaijan–Armenia peace pledge lock out Iran and push out Russia?,” the show included Narek Sukiasyan from the Armenia office of the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung (FES).  Much of the discussion focused on the geopolitical implications from the White House summit and also assessed the missing elements of the bilateral peace treaty that was initialed by the Armenian and Azerbaijani foreign ministers.

POLAND’S TVP WORLD NEWS ON ARMENIA-AZERBAIJAN WASHINGTON SUMMIT

In a news program for Poland’s TVP World TV on 7 August, RSC Director Richard Giragosian commented on the next day’s planned White House meeting between the Armenian and Azerbaijani leaders.  A second, follow-up interview was held on 9 August, with Giragosian provided an assessment the day after the White House ceremony.  Both interviews were conducted by Diana Skaya for Poland’s TVP World, the Polish international news network operated by Telewizja Polska, consisting offering English-language 24-hour news.
